A first-person simulator filled with lots of humor. Low-Budget Repairs has us playing as a handyman working in Poland in the 1990s. Our tasks include renovating rooms and helping to fix simple problems. The key to success in the game is not to be great or meticulous at our job, so we can finish work faster and earn more money.
Low-Budget Repairs is a humorous simulation game that allows us to become a so-called handyman. The game was developed by the independent Polish studio Gray2RGB, which so far has mainly mobile projects in its portfolio.
Gameplay
Neighborhood handyman
In Low-Budget Repairs we watch events from a first-person perspective (FPP). During the game, we play as a handyman operating in one of the Polish housing estates from the 1990s. The protagonist is knowledgeable about everything related to construction, so we can entrust him with both a general bathroom renovation or room refreshment (including replacing floors and covering walls with wallpaper or painting them), as well as fixing a leaking faucet. And at least that's how it seems to his clients.
Cheap and not necessarily good
Low-Budget Repairs skimps on providing us with specialized tools, and in order to earn as much as possible, we need to focus not so much on the quality of the work done, but on completing a given task at the lowest possible cost. For this reason, when laying tiles on the walls, we shouldn't worry about them being evenly placed (it's important that they stick at all), when getting rid of furniture, we can simply throw it out the window, and when painting the walls, we should actually dilute the paint with water to cover as much surface as possible.
Specialized shopping
The money earned from completing tasks from our clients can be spent on shopping in a construction market, where in addition to materials, we can also find tools. Although there is nothing to prevent us from trying to get better equipment, we can just as well be guided solely by its price. In such a case the quality of our equipment will leave much to be desired, but over time we will start getting used to it.
