Loading Human Description
Loading Human for PS4 and PC is a representative of the adventure game genre with action presented from the first person perspective (FPP). We assume the role of André Gibson, a person suffering from memory loss, who has to live through his memories once again to be able to transfer his consciousness into a robot body. The idea behind the game was to transfer the player into a virtual reality, creating a most possibly immersive environment. For this reason, the game makes use of virtual reality goggles, such as PlayStation VR or Oculus Rift, and move controllers. An Italian studio Untold Games is responsible for the project.
Plot
The plot of Loading Human takes place in the near future. The main hero’s wife, Michelle, received a Nobel Prize for the titular Loading Human – a program which transfers the human consciousness and memories into a robot body. The woman created it with her husband in mind, to save his memories before he forgets about his family. But in order for the process to end successfully, André has to recall certain details from his current life, and relive them – he receives help from Michelle, who also connects her mind to the robot. Memory after memory, the main hero learns that he doesn’t really know his wife, while the story contains a dark secret behind the Loading Human project.
Mechanics
In order to make the virtual reality even more believable and immersive, the developer has introduced a fully interactive game world. We can move our hero’s limbs at will, picking up and using every item – for example, we can use the phone, or change the vinyl in the gramophone. However, even with a number of technical novelties, and placing the action in a three dimensional environment seen from a first person perspective, the developers used classic gameplay mechanisms typical for adventure games, inspired by the classic point-and-click titles.
Technical Aspects
The visuals leave a lot to be deserved if we are going to compare them with graphics of other modern titles, but it should be noted that Loading Human for PS4 and PC is a project from a somewhat small developer team.
