Little Racers is an extremely simple 2D racing game with a top-down perspective. The title was developed by an independent Spanish Milkstone studio and was released on Xbox 360 as part of the Xbox Live Indie Games program.

Mechanics

In terms of mechanics, Little Racers refers to classic, top-down arcade racing games from the era of arcade machines, NES consoles or 16-bit Amiga and Atari ST computers. The title offers a typical arcade driving model. The whole track is shown on the TV screen on which a dozen or so microscopically small vehicles compete.

Players can choose from over 20 tracks and 40 cars divided into 8 classes depending on their performance.

Game modes

Little Racers offers three different modes. Championship - a series of races whose stake is the title of the champion, Quick Race - a single race with a random track and opponents, and Custom Race where we can manually select the track and car, as well as determine the number of laps and AI of opponents. The title also has a multiplayer mode - for up to 4 people in local mode or up to 12 players via Xbox Live.

Technical aspects

Although Little Racers on Xbox 360 works in HD resolution, the game looks quite old-school. Apart from the tracks themselves, we won't see any other elements of the scenery, and the only effects accompanying the competition are the clouds of smoke coming out of the wheels and traces of braking on the sharpest corners. The soundtrack, consisting of a dozen or so different pieces, presents itself quite well.
