Linger in Shadows is an ambitious project of the Polish group Plastic Demo Scene, which is a kind of interactive experiment. The participant's task is to find five stamps, which will allow for a further journey in the oneiric, virtual world. The game focuses on manipulating time and elements of the environment.
Linger in Shadows Description
Linger in Shadows is the work of developers gathered around the Plastic Demo Scene group. The intention of the authors was to create an interactive demonstration that would go beyond the usual patterns in video games. The ambitious project attracted the interest of Sony, which decided to release its commercial version developed in cooperation with SCE Santa Monica studio.
Production escapes attempts to classify the species, although it is the closest to the game of logic or adventure. The player observes a seemingly random, oneiric sequence of animation, which after some time stops, scrolls to the beginning and plays again. However, he can try to influence what is happening in the virtual world, trying to discover its new elements or change the already existing ones.
The game consists primarily in experimenting and discovering the potential of the scenes watched. The production is distinguished by unconventional gameplay, in which time and laws of physics do not count. The whole experience is complemented by hypnotic graphics and invigorating background music.
