Let Bions Be Bygones is a detective adventure game with RPG elements. It was developed by the independent studio Bohemian Pulp and published by Microprose.

Plot

Let Bions Be Bygones takes place in a futuristic cyberpunk world - specifically on the planet Terrahive, which is home to a gigantic megacity. The main protagonist is a retired detective John Cooper, ready to take on his final case; finding a missing upper-class girl. His search takes him to the lower levels of the dystopian metropolis. The methods he uses to solve the mystery, as well as how the investigation goes (and ends) depends on the player.

Mechanics

The gameplay in Let Bions be Bygones is viewed from the side. Throughout the game the player traverses through futuristic locations, talks to the residents of Terrahive, establishes friendly or hostile relations with them and completes various quests. Other than main quests, there are numerous and various side hustles to complete as well. As we progress, we learn more about the game's world and its protagonist.

The game lets us choose our method of investigation. We can be "by-the-book", follow logic, show empathy and help people with their problems, follow only our duties and nothing else, or gain valuable info using force, weapon drawn. The player must remember each choice has consequences, which are often difficult to predict and can occur at unexpected times.

Let Bions Be Bygons features pixel art graphics enhanced by modern technology, such as realistic and dynamic lighting. The voice cast is full of professional actors, while the soundtrack works well with the game's atmosphere.
