Legion Commander is an RTS game created by the Chinese studio ChangYou Games. One particularly interesting feature of this title is the fact, that it was designed to harness the potential of the PlayStation VR googles. This is one of the first RTS productions that can be played in virtual reality.
Plot
Legion Commander has been set in a classic fantasy setting. The land, where the action of the game takes place, has fallen under the control of a powerful daemon, which has used its power in order to turn the armies of three races (orcs, elves and men) against one another. The player takes over the role of a general in one of the mentioned armies. To restore order and peace to the world, the player will need to discover specific abilities and defeat all enemies who stand in his path.
Mechanics
Legion Commander is a real-time strategy, which means that the gameplay of the discussed title revolves around the real-time control over an army. The ChangYou Games studio’s production offers the players a choice between three armies, which are all distinguished by a different playstyle, as well as unique units that the player can pick before each encounter. Thanks to the fact, that the game is designed for the virtual reality googles, the player can monitor the battlefield in full 3D by controlling the camera with head movements. Apart from the direct control over one’s own forces, the game also features the ability to use unique spells, which are assigned to different cards; these spells can have major impact on any battle.
Technical aspects
Legion Commander is distinguished by incredibly colourful graphics, which bear strong resemblance to such titles as Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos or World of Warcraft from the renowned Blizzard Entertainment studio.
