Left in the Dark: No One on Board is a production by an independent studio Moonrise Interactive, addressed to lovers of casual adventures in a thriller convention.
Plot
The action of the game takes place at the end of the 19th century. The main character, a respected detective, is asked by the mayor of the coastal town of Port Providence to solve the case of the lost cargo and crew of one of the ships. The locals claim that this is a curse that repeats the same scenario every 10 years. What is more, the case may be related to the murder of a family that took place a few years earlier.
Mechanics
As befits a HOPA (Hidden Objects Puzzle Adventure) game, the tasks facing the player are primarily puzzles such as "hidden objects", puzzles requiring the use of equipment items and interaction with elements of the environment, as well as simple logical mini-games. The control system used in the game is based on the point & click interface typical for adventure titles. For less advanced players, the developers have prepared several difficulty variants, as well as the possibility of using a system of hints.
Technical aspects
Left in the Dark: No One on Board has aesthetically pleasing audiovisuals. Following the genre standards, the developers used hand-drawn backgrounds and simple animations. The whole experience is complemented by the atmospheric background music.
