Last Half of Darkness: Beyond the Spirit's Eye is an adventure game from programmers from the independent American team WRF Studios. This product is the third installment of a dark series of adventure works, the origins of which date back to 1989.

The plot of this title takes us to a quiet, almost completely deserted town called Shadowcrest, whose inhabitants long ago fell victim to a mysterious curse caused by a cursed object known as Eye of Arcarous. When the trace of the unfortunate object seemed to have disappeared, the stone was brought back to the province by Captain Marcos, who took it as a mere spinner and did not realize the burden to be borne by him. The gem turned him into a vampire in a blink of an eye and it didn't take long, and local newspapers started to report on the crimes committed by the hero by publishing articles about his murders every now and then. Frequent visits to Dr. Benzors, a friend of mine, were of no use. The captain could not subdue his desire for blood and became a mere murderer.

The player's task is to find out what a curse Marcos was burdened with and why the item he keeps contributed to the fatal tragedies. The mission is difficult as it takes place in dark, disturbing locations, where the feeling of fear increases especially at night, when various dangerous monsters are coming out on the surface of the earth. During the game we regularly visit places such as haunted houses, lakes and cemeteries covered in fog, and the impression of peace is destroyed by the views of phenomena and shadows passing by the walls of buildings, as well as inhumane sounds from the beyond. The atmosphere created in such a way we are dealing with for nearly 20 hours, which must be spent to finish the game. We observe the adventure horror from the perspective of the first person, admiring dozens of different characters and prerendered elements of the environment, with which we are given the opportunity to interact thanks to the point & click interface. Beyond the Spirit's Eye also offers a multitude of puzzles that we solve, accompanied by specific music and animations displayed at a resolution of 800 by 600 pixels.
