Larva Mortus is the work of an independent studio Rake in Grass, known for such titles as Jets'n'Guns or Styrateg. This time the developers were tempted to play an action game with elements of cRPG in a bloodthirsty horror atmosphere.

The story of Larva Mortus takes place at the end of the 19th century. A great danger hangs over the world, the dark wizard and an army of terrifying monsters want to conquer powerful artefacts of black magic. Only an agent specializing in exorcism and the fight against evil can prevent him.

The player directs the main character's actions by observing the action from above (top-down view). His task is to pass the levels where you can meet more than 30 types of opponents, including werewolves, vampires and undeads. A large arsenal of available weapons helps to annihilate enemies - from classic six-shot revolvers, through different caliber rifles, to a bizarre dynamite cannon. As the game progresses, it is also possible to develop the basic attributes and skills of a hero.

The game has a strictly arcade character. The creators used a classic control system operated by keyboard and mouse. The player simultaneously controls the movement of the character and operates with the weapon sightsee, trying to guide him towards his opponents.

The visual layer of Larva Mortus is based on two-dimensional graphics and simple animations. It is complemented by cartoon interludes illustrating the course of events connected with the plot. Noteworthy is the atmospheric soundtrack, which fits well with the theme of horror.
