Labyrinthine PC

Labyrinthine is a horror adventure game with first person perspective (FPP). The game was developed and published by Valko Game Studios. Although Labyrinthine allows you to play in single mode, the developers designed it primarily for cooperative play.

Plot

For as long as anyone can remember, the hedge-created labyrinth on the outskirts of Johnny Honk's fair has never been officially opened. If rumors are true, once upon a time a kid named Charles slipped inside and never returned. The cop investigating his disappearance also vanished without a trace shortly after stepping between the maze's tall trees. No one knows what happened to the missing, but local residents prefer to stay away from the place.

The labyrinth was built on land owned by the widowed Ethel Fir. Almost 8 years after the last news about the woman, she was declared dead. Unable to find a will, the entire area was turned over to the state and transformed into a park, which was supposed to be an additional attraction for the fair. It was finally decided to open the labyrinth, but people are needed to help prepare it for visitors.

Mechanics

The main goal of the game is to explore the vast labyrinth, collect key items for the development of the story and solve puzzles. The labyrinth is mostly made up of tall trees growing close to each other, sometimes creating very narrow passages. There are also sections on the map where we find ourselves in a vast field or inside an abandoned house.

We get a flashlight and a player for voice recordings soon after entering the area of the attraction. We can take a closer look at many objects in the locations, some of them we can also take with us and use later to solve one of the logic puzzles. There are also various notes and recordings scattered around the labyrinth, which will allow us to learn more about the history and the backstage of the events taking place there.

However, we must be vigilant, because as befits a horror, the labyrinth is inhabited by various ghostly creatures. As we can not defend ourselves, one of the two ways to avoid the monsters lurking in the darkness is to escape. The other is to find a suitable hiding place in time.

Game modes

Labyrinthine offers both single and online co-op gameplay. In the second option we can create a team of up to four players. Participants spend most of the time together exploring different parts of the labyrinth, but there may be a situation in which the game offers them a choice of different paths. It also happens that a roadblock appears on their way, making it impossible to return to the rest of the team.

Technical aspects

Labyrinthine has a 3D graphic design, kept in subdued, cool colors. The game is enriched with an atmospheric soundtrack, as well as various disturbing sound effects.
