Krosmaster Arena is an electronic adaptation of a board game of the same title, set in the universe of popular (especially in France) MMORPG Wakfu and Dofus. Both versions of the game, as well as both the aforementioned prototypes (and TV series based on them), are developed by the French company called Ankama. Ankama Play, game developers, and Ankama Animations, which creates animated films, are both part of Ankama. The game is available on PC in a free-to-play model, with the option of purchasing additional DLC packages.
Mechanics
Krosmaster Arena, released on PC, is not a simple adaptation of the paper version - it combines elements of board game, tactical turn-based strategies and RPG. The gameplay is about participating in epic duels and using the most famous warriors from the Wakfu and Dofus universes. Unlike classic board games, in which each of the participants controls one hero, in Krosmaster Arena, we command a team of heroes, which we recruit as the game progresses. Each of them, of course, has their own individual features, which can be useful in different ways during combat. The key to success is not only to have the right tactics but also the ability to create a unique team of heroes that complement each other on the battlefield. The fact that despite relatively simple rules, Krosmaster Arena offers a large set of special cards for spells and objects, which allows the player to have a huge range of tactical possibilities.
Game modes
As befits a board game, Krosmaster Arena was designed for PvP online duels with other players. People who prefer single player can play a PvE adventure mode in which the arenas and challenges have been combined into one plot. Our goal in the single player mode is to defeat six powerful bosses and fight and become the titular master of the Krosmoz.
Technical aspects
In terms of visuals, Krosmaster Arena, available on PC, uses the graphics style known from Wakfu and Dofus. This means that the game uses a combination of western cartoon elements with Japanese anime style, which is reflected the most by the character designs. The game also features hundreds of funny animations and a large dose of dark comedy. It is worth noting that the game uses figures (sold separately). They come with special codes which we can use to unlock their virtual versions in the video game.
