KingSim is a kingdom simulator developed by independent Russian studio Fuzzy Pixel Game Studio. In the game we play as the heir to the throne, trying to stay alive and ensure the prosperity of his kingdom.

Plot

The action of the game takes place in a fantasy world inhabited by different races. We play as a nobleman who becomes the main claimant to the throne after the king's death. Before the coronation, however, he has to deal with current problems, such as providing his people with a place to live, finding a wife or stopping the barbarian hordes invading our lands. The plot of the game is non-linear and changes based on our decisions. Depending on how we proceed, we will see one of over a hundred endings - most of which end with our violent death.

Mechanics

The gameplay in Kingsim is mainly about following the narrative and taking decisions. The interface is divided into three sections - a dialog box with available options, resource indicators and a kingdom preview, showing the state of our lands. There are six types of resources at our disposal - Army, Food, Gold, Faith, Happiness, and Health. Depending on our decisions, we will spend or gain certain resources. If we run out of any of the resources, we die.

Around our castle we can construct buildings such as sawmills, mines or markets. By interacting with them we play simple mini-games that add resources to our kingdom. Every decision we make has an impact on further gameplay, and can suddenly lead to our death much later. Death is permanent, and after each death we start the game from the beginning. The player must work by trial and error to survive as long as possible.

Game modes

Kingsim only offers a single player mode.

Technical aspects

The visuals in Kingsim are very simple. The graphics are eight-bit, shown mainly in purple and blue.
