Killer Bean is a shooter enriched with clearly outlined roguelike elements, and also a sequel to the animated film released in 2009 titled Killer Bean Forever. The development of this game was handled by Killer Bean Studios, and its creation was overseen by the author of the original - Jeff Lew. The game project somehow took the place of the web series, which was cancelled after airing two episodes.
Plot
Killer Bean allows us to play the role of the title character who is an anthropomorphic coffee bean. After he was betrayed by the Shadow Agency he decided to administer justice, planning to completely destroy it. The implementation of this plan will not be easy, as hordes of enemies stand in our way, led by the mysterious Shadow Beans which are expertly trained and equipped.
Gameplay
In Killer Bean we can watch the action from the first person (FPP) or third person (TPP) perspective. The game is divided into missions, the entire content of which is procedurally generated. This applies to both the location projects and the goals set before us, as well as the stories told in them and the bosses that we must face.
A character who was our ally when we first played a given task may become our enemy during the next playthrough. This means that each game looks completely different from the previous one. Additionally, the game is diversified by the possibility of exploring extensive levels using vehicles, the presence of various factions, and a system of designing our own Shadow Beans that will hunt Killer Bean.
The salt of the game are the clashes with opponents, which we can eliminate in various ways. While there's nothing stopping us from engaging in intense gunfights, we may as well focus on hand-to-hand combat or deal with the problems we encounter quietly. As we progress, we develop the character in the direction we choose, gradually becoming more specialized in our field.
