Keplerth is an open-world survival game in which we fight for survival on an alien planet. It was developed by the indie studio TARO and published by Gamera Games.

Plot

Keplerth takes us to the future when interplanetary flights are possible. We play as a character who woke up on the surface of an alien planet, where landed his hibernation capsule. From now on, he fights a real battle for survival, not only trying to get food and clothing and build a shelter, but also trying to conquer the unexplored world.

Game mechanics

In Keplerth we observe the action from a top-down perspective. At the beginning, as befits a survival game, we are focused on satisfying our basic needs. So we have to get food, and also find resources necessary to produce the first clothes or build a temporary shelter.

Then there's nothing left to do but to equip ourselves with the first weapon and set out to conquer the planet. The map is procedurally generated, and in addition to the vast outdoors, we'll find, among other things, vast undergrounds. While exploring it, we gain the resources which allow us to create better and better (and more complicated) equipment and to construct bigger and more technologically advanced buildings. Besides, the game world is inhabited by a variety of creatures - from aggressive beasts to representatives of various factions. What's interesting, some of the local animals can be tamed and then used as mounts. In addition, nothing stands in the way of running your own farm, where we breed tame creatures and grow plants that are a source of food.

What comes to the battles with enemies - the combat is dynamic, and to win we have to not only supply ourselves with better equipment, but also gradually develop the character. This is done in a unique form - instead of developing individual skills by adding points to them, the game allows us to edit genes; in this way we increase the statistics of the character and equip it with a variety of perks. Our combat potential grows also thanks to better and better equipment; although initially we use mainly cold weapons, with time we can start relying on firearms.
