Kengo is a typical three-dimensional fight. This time we take control over one of the title bushido warriors. In many ways, this title can be compared to the first-generation Bushido Blade games released on PlayStation. We are dealing here with the same manufacturer - Light Weight company, also known for such productions as Kabuki Warriors (Xbox). This item was created for PlayStation 2 owners only. What is interesting, this game has been continued in the following years.

Bushido Blade games were characterized by great realism of the game. It was necessary to anticipate the next moves of the opponent, derive appropriate counterpoints, as well as to move towards self-realized attacks. Many times there were situations in which an accurate hit ended the whole fight. An additional difficulty was the lack of a visible energy bar. The player had to assess his character's state of health on an ongoing basis. As a result, the game was not very accessible. In Kengo it was decided to give up most of these difficulties. First of all, the force of individual strokes was balanced. So there are no more situations in which the duel lasts only a few seconds. On the screen you can also see the health bars of the fighting characters. This does not mean, of course, that the battles are not complicated. The player can use many different types of strokes, effectively block the opponent, or combine consecutive strokes into impressive combos. Kengo in this respect seems to resemble many other three-dimensional battles.

Player-controlled characters are of course not limited to melee combat. Various types of white weapons are used, with particular reference to katan. There is also the possibility of using throwing weapons such as small knives or deadly effective shurikens. Noteworthy is the module prepared by the manufacturers responsible for showing the effects of damage inflicted on enemies. For example, a warrior who has been wounded in his leg moves much slower. In total, more than twenty playable characters are at the player's disposal. They differ not only in appearance, but also in preferred fighting style. Visually Kengo is quite average. What deserves attention in this case is a realistic animation of behaviours of characters fighting with each other.
