Keep Driving PC

Keep Driving is a pixel art, two-dimensional RPG that combines adventure and simulator mechanics. The Swedish independent studio YCJY, which has such titles as Post Void and Sea Salt, is responsible for the title.

Storyline

In Keep Driving we move to the beginning of the 21st century. It's summer, and the character we control has bought his first car. She decides to take it on the road to the other end of the country to reach a music festival. The route takes us through highways, quiet country roads and smaller towns.

Along the way we meet hitchhikers and hitchhikers with their unique stories, which add to our journey and build its atmosphere.

The game has multiple endings. At the end of each trip, it encourages us to return to the beginning and see what would have happened if we had taken a different route.

Gameplay

The action in Keep Driving is experienced from the side of a moving car, in what is known as side-scrolling. During our journey, we set successive destination points, and while driving between them we encounter many challenges.

To overcome them, we use a turn-based system, within which each problem can be solved in multiple ways. To do so, we draw on the knowledge and skills we have acquired. A variety of items that we can purchase at any gas station, in auto repair shops or found during our travels prove helpful.

Our tasks include taking care of our character's energy and the condition of the vehicle and the amount of fuel. We will have faults repaired in the car workshops, but we can also make improvements and personalize many elements of the car, such as the wheels, roof and interior.

In addition, we meet hitchhikers on the road. Their stories make our journey more pleasant. However, each of them has a different personality, which affects the comfort of the journey with them.

The road is colored by the music of alternative Swedish bands. Along the way we acquire their new CDs, which at the end of the trip can add up to a sizable collection.
