Kamen Rider: Climax Fighters is a three-dimensional fighting game developed by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The title is based on manga and anime series that have been popular in Japan since the seventies’. The game debuted on PS4 and it is the first entry in the series that was localized to English.
Plot
Kamer Rider: Climax Fighters for PS4 takes place in universe created for the above mentioned series. The player assumes the role of one of the titular characters, warriors-riders who fight monsters. In this game they compete with each other in order to determine who is the strongest of them all.
Mechanics
The PS4 version of Kamen Rider: Climax Fighters features not only completely new warriors, but characters from previous entries in the series as well – the player can control Kuuga, Ryuki, Blade, Kabuto and younger characters like Gaima, Drive, Ghost and Build. The warriors differ in look, special abilities, weapons (they use both melee and ranged weapons) and combination attacks.
The action is presented by using a third-person perspective. The gameplay focuses on dynamical and spectacular one-on-one or two-on-two battles between the Riders. For the first time in the history of the series it is possible to play the game with other players not only on a single console, but through Internet as well. The game features various arenas on which the battles take place – including abandoned city streets, interior of a factory, port and the rooftop of a high building. Between the battles the player can spend time in virtual lobby where there are various minigames.
Technical aspects
Kamen Rider: Climax Fighters for PS4 features simple graphics – the battles are accompanied by special effects and the lack of details is compensated by manga-like stylization.
