Jurassic World Evolution: Return to Jurassic Park

Jurassic World Evolution: Return To Jurassic Park is an add-on to the 2018 strategy game Jurassic World Evolution, in which we build and manage the title theme park, with dinosaurs as the main attraction. The expansion offers the opportunity to return to the two islands known from the original Jurassic Park movie from 1993 (and Michael Crichton's book on which it was based). DLC was developed and released by the authors of the main game, Frontier Developments.

Plot

Jurassic World Evolution: Return to Jurassic Park refers to the story told in the iconic movie Jurassic Park (and the book under the same title). The player supervises the reconstruction of the amusement park, which was destroyed and abandoned as a result of the events presented in the movie.

Mechanics

The gameplay in Jurassic World Evolution: Return To Jurassic Park does not differ significantly from what we know from the base game. We get a few new skins for dinosaurs, which refer to their appearance in the movie. These include the Tyrannosaurus and the Velociraptor.

There are also completely new animals, such as Compsognathus or Pteranodon, and a lot of objects and attractions (e.g. the classic gateway to the Jurassic Park or a tour of the island). In addition, with the expansion, a patch was introduced that changed several aspects of game mechanics, such as the interactions of guards and dinosaurs and the rules of operation of toilets for guests.

Game modes

Jurassic World Evolution: Return To Jurassic Park can only be played solo. The game offers a seven-mission story campaign, in which we return to the islands Nublar and Sorna. The script features well-known characters such as Dr. Allan Grant, Dr. Ellie Sattler and Dr. Ian Malcolm.

In addition to the campaign, we also have the opportunity to experience the sandbox mode again - with an overlay that changes the appearance of the inventory and the user interface, as well as dinosaurs and items added to the DLC.

Technical aspects

Jurassic World Evolution: Return To Jurassic Parkdoes not change the graphics of the title. However, we receive new designs of dinosaurs and objects with which we can decorate our park. Also noteworthy is the sound system. Jurassic Park actors Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum have returned to lend their voices to characters they played more than two decades ago.
