Junk Jack is an independent sandbox production which is really similar to popular Terraria by Re-Logic. The production by Pixbits is created for PC, but it originates from the mobile title published a few years earlier. However, the game is polished and it is difficult to trace its smartphone roots.
Mechanics
Gameplay in Junk Jack does not have an ultimate goal, you just explore the procedurally-generated world where you come across a number of interesting elements and loads of resources. They are vital for crafting new tools and construction elements. Just like in mentioned Terraria, erecting more and less fancy buildings, which additionally can be decorated inside, is a part of gameplay. At the beginning, you only have access to basic tools for extracting resources. This, however, is enough to develop as you progress further. What is important, developers introduced a mode that omits a big part of crafting, so more impatient players, or those who are planning to build something truly humongous, can speed the process up and make it easier. Apart from that, players engage in combat, which is fairly undemanding, and use portals to travel across worlds.
Technical aspects
At first glance, gameplay is not the only aspect inspired by Terraria, as visuals in Junk Jack for PC also look similarly and utilise a pixel-art style. The title introduces a number of modern elements, such as changing weather conditions and the day and night cycle.
