Jawbreaker is an FPP action adventure game with survival horror elements. It was developed and published by a single man - Vincent Lade, also responsible for games such as The Swine and the episodic Deathbloom.

Plot

The game is set in the United States, after a great economic collapse in 2028 and a mysterious "awakening" forces the survivors to face a new, dark reality. They join various gangs to survive, fighting each other for supplies and territory in the abandoned USA districts.

The playable character of Jawbreaker is a former teacher, joining one of the smaller gangs in New Citadel City. When their bunker starts running out of supplies, he volunteers to venture into the city ruins in search of resources. During his expedition he stumbles upon a pristine police station. Intrigued, he decides to risk it and breaks into the place, quickly realizing what a huge mistake he has made.

Mechanics

Jawbreaker is a survival horror, tasking us with avoiding threats and dangers. The protagonist makes his way through the police station, gathering supplies and looking for a way out. During his exploration he often encounters hostile members of the Faceless Gang trying to capture him. There's also a different threat hiding in the dark, powerful enough to threaten even our regular foes.

The game features puzzles, stealth and combat. The protagonist can sneak between enemies using a special locating device which pinpoints their exact locations. He can also hide in various hiding spots (such as lockers, tables or dark corners) or use firearms - though gunshots draw the enemies' attention.

To encourage replayability and diversify gameplay, the developer has introduced multiple endings.
