Jam Sessions Description
Jam Sessions is a music game designed for the two-screened Nintendo DS console. With the console’s features such as the touchscreen, the developers were able to create a guitar simulation. What puts this production aside from similar titles (e.g. Guitar Hero), is the ability to create your own songs, and not only play those already existing.
Gameplay mechanics are pretty straightforward – the lower panel and the stylus let you play on the strings of a virtual guitar, whereas key combinations on the D-pad stand for chords. Users have great freedom as to combining different sounds into one musical sequence. Your created compositions are saved and ready for use later in the process of track creation.
Apart from the simulation side of the game, the creators implemented several various game modes, e.g. there is a wide selection of mini-games, one of which has you repeat a song just played. Less experienced players may make use of the tutorial that will introduce them into the gameplay mechanics.
