J-Stars Victory Vs Description
J-Stars Victory Vs, released on PSV and PS3, is a game created to celebrate the 45th anniversary of manga magazines from the Jump series. The developers from Namco Bandai decided to mash-up characters known from such comic book series as Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, Naruto, Toriko, Rurouni Kenshin, Bleach, KochiKame, Gintama, Yu Yu Hakusho or Hunter × Hunter.
Mechanics
Players can play as Monkey D. Luffy, Naruto Uzumaki, Toriko, Zebra, Vegeta or Goku. Each playable character has a different set of attacks (including normal, distant, and superpowerful attacks) and special moves, and prefers a different style of combat.
The gameplay is largely based on the mechanics of Dragon Ball: Zenkai Battle Royale available on arcade machines. There are five arenas (Alabasta, Namek, Konoha, Vegetable Sky or Dark Tournament Stadium) with a partially destructible environment. The clashes take place both on the ground and in the air.
Game modes
The game offers several gameplay modes. Apart from one-person rivalry with artificial intelligence, there are several multiplayer variants for up to four players, including "everyone for everyone" and team fights.
Technical aspects
As for the visuals, J-Stars Victory Vs doesn't differ in quality from the arcade original. Its 3D graphics are characterized by intense colors, and the dynamic fights in the arenas is accompanied by spectacular special effects (flashes, explosions, etc.).
