It's a Wrap is an original game with elements of a time-manipulation-based puzzle game and platform action game. It was developed by the indie Chanko Studios team, and was published by AMC Games.
Plot
It's a Wrap takes us on a journey through the sets of low-budget action movies from the 1980s, clearly inspired by the blockbusters of the era. We not only take on the role of a director, but also take control of the star of each of these productions, namely actor Johnny Rush.
Mechanics
In It's a Wrap we observe the action from the side. The gameplay is divided into two phases. The first is the directing phase, in which we deal with the placement of props, actors and special effects; manipulating the timeline, we have to make sure that all the elements of a scene appear on the screen at the right moment.
Next, we have no choice but to move on to the action phase, in which we take direct control of Johnny Rush. Jumping on platforms, avoiding traps and obstacles, and facing dangers, we have to show dexterity, reflexes and timing. Only in this way do scenes shot with our participation, such as a chase, space battle or escape from a huge boulder, have a chance to succeed. All this is not easy, which is why at times we'll lose our footing in the process; after watching a funny death scene (reminiscent of classic cartoons) there is nothing left to do but rewind the action and try again.... or return to the director's stool and make changes to the entire scene.
Technical aspects
It's a Wrap features colorful, easy-to-read graphics made in a cartoon style.
