A realistic FPS set on the Italian front of World War I, during the battles for the valley of the title river. Isonzo, like previous works by Blackmill Games and M2H, was developed for multiplayer.
Isonzo is a realistic FPS developed for multiplayer, which takes us back to the times of the First World War. The game is the result of cooperation between M2H and Blackmill Games and is the third part of the series of first-war shooters launched in 2015, which includes the Verdun and Tannenberg games.
Isonzo takes us to the Italian front of World War I, or more precisely - to the valley of the title river, over which twelve battles were fought in 1915-1917. During the game we take sides of the conflict and, as Italian or Austro-Hungarian soldiers, we take part in fights for this territory.
In Isonzo we observe the action from a first person perspective (FPP). We take part in battles that include storming mountain fortifications (many of which are located at impressive heights), fighting on the streets of ruined cities and crossing the valley of the river. Our role and equipment determines what weapons we use and what options we have on the battlefield. Nothing prevents you from fighting on the front line, eliminating enemies with small arms, rifles or bayonets. But we can also focus on more refined operations, taking on the role of snipers, mortar operators or engineers who sabotage enemy operations. The diversity of specialisations means teamwork is key to success.
Isonzo is a game designed for multiplayer. Among the available game modes the leading one is Offensive, which is a new module, in which, depending on the selected side of the conflict, we occupy defensive positions and repel enemy attacks, or on the contrary - we take part in the offensive and attack positions where the enemies have dug in.
Graphics of Isonzo presents a high quality, but the strongest part of the game is attachment to historical details. Not only are the weapons and uniforms of soldiers from both sides of the conflict rendered with an almost photographic attention to detail, but also the battlefields are modelled on real locations.

Game Ratings for Isonzo Video Game.
Screen Rant: 3 / 5
Isonzo’s gameplay mechanics are simple and easy to pick up, despite the game lacking any real tutorial other than a quick and very easy-to-miss instruction video that plays before the player’s first match. On the other hand, the combat itself is brutal and unrelenting, meaning that would-be soldiers looking to dive into Isonzo’s historical battlefield will have to face constant deaths and reloads while touring through BlackMill Games’ latest history-based shooter.
IGN: 7 / 10 by Luke Winkie
Isonzo is a well-made shooter that welcomes all comers to its gorgeous, mountainous World War I multiplayer battlefields, though a lot of that approachability and familiarity comes at the cost of period authenticity and distinctive gameplay.
Impulsegamer: 3.3 / 5 by Scott De Lacy
Isonzo on the Xbox is like a reminder that you should never put tomato in a fruit salad. Play it on a PC if you play it at all.
