Islands of Insight

Project S (also known as Project Sophia) is an online puzzle adventure game with an open world in which we learn the secrets of a fantastic universe. It was developed by the Lunarch studio, founded by "mathematics Olympiad champions, professional poker players" and PhD students at the US-based Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The team aims to advance the art of online gaming through " brave innovation," in which it was supported by Behaviour Interactive (Dead by Daylight).

Plot

Project S takes players to a world of flying islands, where all reality is based on puzzles. As a "spark of wisdom" that has gained a corporeal form, we slowly discover the mythology of the universe, gaining more information about our creator and the fate that is our destiny.

Game mechanics

Project S allows you to play in FPP or TPP mode, and the whole thing, at first glance, looks more like an action game than a typical puzzle production. The character we direct explores a vast open world, but instead of fights and dialogues here the most important are puzzles. The game features a variety of puzzles, from various variations on the theme of mazes and moving tiles, to environmental challenges and games with perspective.

As we progress through the game, our character gains mastery levels for each type of puzzle. This gives us access to new abilities and locations where we find more tasks. We also gradually discover the secrets of the Project S world, which reveal the production's story background.

Game modes

Project S offers online multiplayer modes, in which players traverse the game world together. However, the title also allows players to play unaccompanied by other characters.

Technical aspects

Project S runs on the popular Unreal Engine technology, offering high-quality three-dimensional visuals, to which we are accustomed by productions based on Epic Games' engine. The locations that are the backdrop for the puzzles are detailed and full of unusual views.
