This production is the third installment of the series created by Isotx, a developer company from the modern scene. It was in Iron Grip: The Oppression, a popular modification to Half-Life 2 that we entered Atelia for the first time, which is the theatre of action for all games with Iron Grip in the title.
In Lord of War we play the role of a tribe ruler who sets up a camp somewhere in the freezing wilderness. Our leader may come from one of the three factions. Each of them has its advantages and disadvantages. However, we do not have to stand for either side and thus play neutrally.
Coal and iron, complemented by "strength", are the basic building blocks that we use to build units and buildings. An important statistic, which we have to pay attention to, is also the amount of processing forces we have in our possession. We can recruit new volunteers with the expansion of the barracks, although the number of volunteers is limited by the level of experience of our leader.
With the development of our main character, we can improve other buildings as well. The most important of these are mines, providing the ore needed. In addition, we need to take care of the equipment of workers working underground - better quality equipment means richer extraction of raw material. To build stronger pickaxes and drills, we need an extensive tool shop. The wheel closes.
Our units were divided into two groups: offensive and defensive. These first forces will serve us when we want to conquer an enemy camp. We have here light and heavy infantry, several types of armoured weapons, boats and bombers. The strongest unit in this category is a huge combat robot. Defensive forces enter the game as soon as our buildings are trying to take over the enemy. We can protect the area with traps and equip our soldiers with camouflage, which increases their defensive properties. You can also send a herd of trained beasts to your opponent, or simply hide behind a barricade or a wall built earlier.
In order to build the latter we need one more raw material - precious stones. These can be obtained in several ways. The easiest of them is to buy flashes using micropayments. We can also exchange stones with smugglers for other exotic objects.
Graphic design in Iron Grip: Lords of War does not differ in level from other titles of this type. Our base was presented with hand-drawn graphics, and the whole is maintained in a steampunk tone.
