A twin-stick shooter with RPG and rougelike elements, developed by the indie studio Confused Pelican. Iron Crypticle takes us to a fantasy land called Cryptonia. The land's princess was kidnapped and the crown jewels were stolen by mysterious enemies. When that happened the ruler of the land decided to ask his most respected knights for help – they must go down to castle's crypts and punish the thieves.

Iron Crypticle is a twin-stick shooter with RPG and rougelike elements. The game is available on various platforms, such as PS4, PC and XONE, and was developed by an indie studio called Confused Pelican.

Plot

Iron Crypticle takes players to Cryptonia, a fantasy land. When the princess was kidnapped and crown jewels stolen by mysterious enemies, the ruler decided to ask his knights for help, although the knights aren't that young anymore. Their task is to go down to castle's crypts and punish the bandits.

Mechanics

The action in Iron Crypticle, released on PS4, PC and XONE, is presented from top-down perspective. During the game we play as one of the previously mentioned warriors and explore vast, randomly generated dungeons as well as face hordes of enemies – among them we can find powerful bosses that guard passages to lower levels. During the dynamic fights we can use various weapons and many spells, both offensive and defensive. Because the fights are fast the key to success is to learn the dodge system and use the so-called Atomic Fist, a special attack that deals a lot of damage to our enemies.

We gradually increase our hero's potential by collecting more and more powerful weapons and developing stats such as speed, damage or fire rate. It should also be mentioned that rooms are generated randomly, which increases the game’s replayability. In breaks between exploring the castle's crypts we can play a special minigame called Castle Crushers.

Game modes

Iron Crypticle can be played alone or with up to three friends in local co-op.

Technical aspects

Iron Crypticle, released on PS4, PC and XONE, takes a lot inspiration from classics of this genre which is evident in the audiovisual aspects of the game – 2D, pixelart graphics accompanied by a characteristic, chiptune soundtrack.
