Turn-based strategy, in which the player takes on the role of a medieval illuminator. While playing in Inkulinati we take part in duels on manuscript cards, on which we send drawn, anthropomorphic animals. The title allows you to play alone and multiplayer battles over the Internet or in hot seat mode.

Inkulinati is a turn-based strategy game full of absurd humour, developed by independent Polish studio Yaza Games. The title not only draws inspiration from medieval illuminations (ornaments that enriched manuscripts, having evolved from initials and decorative lines over the centuries to the form of decorative drawings), but also refers to the memes stylized on them.

Plot

In Inkulinati we play the role of a medieval illuminator. Taking part in the duels fought on the pages of manuscripts using antropomoprhic creatures drawn with the help of the Living Ink, we fight against the successive adepts of the illumination, and eventually stand eye to eye with Death itself. If the protagonist manages to win, he will be hailed Master of Illumination.

Mechanics

In Inkulinati the action is shown from the side. The pillar of the game are turn-based battles fought on the pages of a medieval book, to which we send anthropomorphic animals, such as dogs armed with bows and spears, hares equipped with spears or even donkeys playing trumpets.

In addition to launching attacks, individual units can try to gain an advantage over their opponents by singing, barking, purring, or performing somewhat more obscene actions. In addition, we have at our disposal so-called hand actions - ulluminators can crush enemies by hand, draw obstacles in front of them or move their subordinates.

By eliminating opponents, we gain the Living Ink, which plays the role of a main resource - it is with its help that we draw new troops. In addition, as our illuminator progresses, they gain experience, thanks to which we unlock new units and hand actions over time.

Game modes

In addition to the single player campaign, Inkulinati features a multiplayer mode that enables us to play duels over the Internet or in the so-called "hot seat" mode.

Technical aspects

Colorful two-dimensional graphics of Inkulinati are stylized on medieval illuminations. During the game, a text is generated based on the activities of the participants of the battle, which fills the following pages of the manuscript.
