A sci-fi city builder about building an alien metropolis. InfraSpace heavily emphasizes logistics, tasking us with expanding our network of roads to avoid traffic jams.
InfraSpace is a city builder strategy game, tasking us with creating a self-sufficient metropolis on an alien planet. It was developed by an indie studio Dionic Software.
Mechanics
InfraSpace makes use of the top-down perspective. At first glance, the game doesn't differ much from other city builders. We'll extract resources, produce goods and construct various buildings. Though our alien city will mostly be inhabited by astronauts at first, soon we'll draw in engineers, scientists and their families. If our city is to develop, we must satify its citizens' basic needs and other wants, such as education and entertainment.
The game's unique selling point is its complex logistics, reminiscent of Mini Motorways. All resources must be transported from its extraction site to the factory, and all produced goods must then be delivered to the residential areas, meaning our roads will turn very active. We must avoid traffic jams and ensure the steady flow of resources and goods, constantly expanding our network of roads and highways, creating bigger, more complex intersections.
Technical aspects
Visually, InfraSpace is rather simple, yet colorful and clear, letting us easily figure out the current situation in our city and on the roads.
