Infinite Space 3: Sea of Stars PC

Infinite Space: Sea of Stars for PC is a space exploration game and a combination of strategy and role-playing elements. It is the third installment of the series, the other two being the 2002 Strange Adventures in Infinite Space and Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space, released three years later. All the productions were developed by Digital Eel.

Mechanics

The production is a space-themed roguelike game set in the distant future, where humanity has colonized many planets and established contact with various alien civilizations. The game does not feature any particular objectives to fulfill. It is entirely up to you what you do. The exploring part of the game is turn-based, while combat takes place in real time. The in-game world is entirely open and randomly generated. The system works in such a way that allows you to discover only a small part of the mysterious universe per adventure.

Everything you do has consequences. In Infinite Space 3: Sea of Stars you cannot save your game. Every playthrough is from-fifteen-minutes-to-around-an-hour-long, which forces you to begin the game from scratch and have new adventures.

Technical aspects

While the previous two installments featured simple 2D graphics, Infinite Space 3: Sea of Stars for PC utilizes a 3D engine. This means not only better graphics, but also better game dynamics. There are thousands of units moving around the universe, and great alien armadas are battling each other. Moreover, space stations are not longer just trading centers, but can also be attacked or defended. The game also features expansive modding tools.
