Industry Giant 4.0 is an economic strategy game focused on conducting business in the 20th century. It was developed by a German studio Don VS Dodo. Despite the name, it's only the third main installment in a series originating from 1997. Originally the third game was meant to be the cancelled Industry Gigant: The Big Departure. The publisher, Toplitz Productions, decided to wash their hands clean of the game and titled the new installment Industry Giant 4.0.

As befitting an economic strategy game, the gameplay revolves around developing businesses. The player invests in new ventures, prepares goods and services, spending money on developing the company and its technology further.
Industry Giant 4.0 begins in the 1950s. As the title suggest, the player must create their own business empire during the fourth industrial revolution, meaning digitalization and automation play a key part.
At the start of the game we must define our company's philosophy. This affects the in-game events, the actions and marketing the player has access to, as well as taxes and loans we can take. Industry Giant 4.0 includes 25 kinds of industrial activity, including mining and farming, producing around 60 kinds of goods, ranging from resources and half-products to finished products.
Produced goods can be transported by trucks, trains and ships. The player can build roads, railroad tracks and create transport schedules. There are also many different city buildings, including shops.
Our business will be affected by seasons, which determine demand and availability of resources, and many other things. The game's world also changes over time, with new technologies appearing on the market, meaning additioning money-making opportunities. Aside from that, there are many random events and historical events.
