A simulator that allows players to take on the role of a gastronomic stand employee. The production has been prepared with virtual reality technology and motion controllers in mind and offers several levels with various challenges. The title was developed by Winking Entertainment.
I'm Hungry is a humorous simulator, in which we get a chance to play the role of a person running a small gastronomic stand with fast food. The game was developed with VR technology in mind (works with PlayStation VR goggles). Developers from Winking Entertainment (creators of the Unearthing Mars series) are responsible for creating and publishing the game.
Mechanics
We play the role of a gastronomic stand employee who offers various kinds of snacks - fries, ice cream, waffles or burgers. While observing the action from first-person perspective, we prepare and serve meals that our customers ordered, accepting payment in return. The interface is based on motion control technology - we have to observe the surrounding environment and choose the right objects. The game does not offer the possibility of walking.
Our fast food stand can be located in an amusement park or a small town. The game consists of several levels, which pose increasingly difficult challenge to the players, forcing them to work quickly and efficiently. During the game we also receive special tasks that enable us to earn more money or offer additional rewards.
An interesting function is a simplified calorie counter - real-life calories, at that. While doing virtual work we can see how much energy it costs us and in some cases we can get quite tired - especially in the second half of the game, when the levels become more difficult and have to pick up the pace.
It is worth noting that the title features limited online functionality - the results achieved by the players are listed on a special table, which enables us to compare our achievements with others.
Game modes
I'm Hungry can only be played solo. The game offers two single player modes - Career and Endless. In the first case, we are able to gradually invest in our stand thanks to the money we receive from our clients. The second mode offers unlimited fun and is dedicated to more demanding players.
Technical aspects
I'm Hungry features nice three-dimensional visuals. The creators did not strive for realism - instead, a colorful, slightly comic book-like style was used, which is good at hiding various technical weaknesses. Using VR technology, the title offers a level of immersion not available for traditional titles. The game works with PlayStation VR goggles and Move controller (both of which are required for the game to run).
