Iconoclasts for PC, SWITCH and etc. is a 2D open-world platformer developed by Joakim Sandberg, also known as Konjak. The developer is popular for a few games considered nearly classics among the fans of indie projects – the Noitu Love series is probably the best example.

Plot

The player assumes the role of Robin, a young, technically inclined girl that constructs machines. Unfortunately, this profession gets de-legalised in the world the protagonist lives in. While exploring picturesque locations, the player tries to find out why has this happened.

Mechanics

Iconoclasts for PC, SWITCH and etc. is filled with fighting against both regular enemies and bosses, platforming elements, puzzles and encounters with NPCs. The game is a dynamic platformer combining exploration, puzzle solving and gunplay. The structure of the game world is open to a certain extent, because the environment was based on the principles of metroidvania titles. Over time, the player gets new tools and items allowing them to unlock access to new locations. Also, the player regularly gets new weapons and new moves the protagonist can perform.

Technical aspects

The creator of Iconoclasts is famous for delivering good-looking, pixelated graphics, which was also the case in this game. Iconoclasts for PC, SWITCH and etc. uses an exceptionally rich palette of vivid colors and it makes a great impression in motion, especially because gameplay is fast-paced here and the characters are nicely animated. What complements the game's eye-pleasing visuals, is a retro-styled soundtrack.
