Icebreaker is an arcade sports game that allows players to take part in one of the most popular sports in North America - ice hockey.
The game is the work of NaturalMotion, a British studio that previously provided editorial tools and engines for other developers to model and animate characters appearing on the screen. The most famous work of this company is Dynamic Motion Synthesis technology, which is a part of the Euphoria engine, which can be observed in such titles as Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, or Grand Theft Auto IV.
NaturalMotion's first fully-fledged game was Backbreaker, a 2010 American football simulation. Just like the title, Icebreaker is a production that focuses on an arcade model of fun, emphasizing the dynamics and brutality of the presented sport.
Icebreaker's luminaire is based on Backbreaker's core tools and designed in a similar style. Of course, special emphasis was put on the specialty of NaturalMotion, i.e. character animation, which was created with the use of motion capture technique.
