IA/VT Colorful

IA/VT Colorful is an arcade rhythm game, in which we can play songs created by Japanese musicians, using IA vocaloid as a vocalist. Vocaloid programs are professional music applications that enable us to add a virtual voice, based on the samples of real artists, to our songs. IA made its debut in Japan in 2012 and has since then gained considerable popularity among artists. IA/VT Colorful was developed by Marvelous AQL, which for years has been publishing niche titles, including jRPG. The producer of the title is Kenichiro Takaki, creator of the action game series Senran Kagura, who in 2014 created its musical spin-off Senran Kagura: Bon Appetit.

Mechanics

The gameplay in IA/VT Colorful resembles slightly the one from Hatsune Miku: Project Diva. Players gradually unlock new songs, passing them on one of the three difficulty levels. While playing, we press one of the eight buttons on the console at the right time. The icons marking them mix along the line and our task is to press them when they reach a small circle. The tracks also contain special segments where you can earn extra points. During the songs, their original music video published on the Internet or a film prepared by the creators of the title, containing a three-dimensional model of the singer, is shown in the background.
