I, Zombie, released on PC, Switch etc., is the second, after Avatar Fantasy RPG, game developed by Awesome Games from Poland. This time, Marcin Draszczuk and Andrzej Pasinski decided to give players an opportunity to spread the zombie epidemic in the virtual world. The game was originally made available to PC and X360 users, but in the following years the production also went to mobile devices and (in a slightly refreshed version) to the next generation of Microsoft consoles.
Mechanics
The game has only a little bit of plot and, contrary to the title, has nothing to do with the novel I, Zombie, written by Hugh Howey. The player plays the role of a living corpse and their goal is to spread the zombie epidemic among the inhabitants of the virtual town. The task is complicated by soldiers who guard people and try to exterminate the undead.
The game is based on extremely simple rules. The player directs the first zombie. On each of the levels, they must infect all people and avoid getting killed. Infected people join the main hero, creating a group which, e.g. allows you to attack armed soldiers. The game takes place on small maps depicting a virtual town. As the game progresses, the level of difficulty increases, which translates into terrain obstacles (houses, chests, walls, etc.) and the number of soldiers guarding the residents.
Technical aspects
As for the graphics, I, Zombie, released on PC, Switch, etc., the low-cost character of the production is clearly visible. The creators of the game opted for a simple, yet aesthetically made 2D graphics in cartoon style. Compared to the original version of the game from 2011, the Xbox One version, released 5 years later, offers better graphics, enriched with additional visual effects, which make it look much better than the original version.
