Hunting Unlimited

Hunting Unlimited is a realistic first-person hunting simulator released on PC. The game was developed in cooperation between the American studio Sunstorm Interactive (known mainly for additions to such games as Duke Nukem 3D and Redneck Rampage) and the Czech SCS Software.

Mechanics

In terms of mechanics, Hunting Unlimited does not differ significantly from most games dedicated to the craft of hunting (e.g. the Deer Hunter series), although the game from SCS Software contains a bit more action elements, which makes it more accessible to wider audience. During the game we can hunt a variety of animals: there are several species of deer (e.g. white-tailed deer and mule deer), elk or the mighty and extremely dangerous grizzli bear. The lifestyle of each kind of animals has been faithfully reproduced in the game, so that before going on hunting we must equip ourselves not only with the appropriate gear, but also with a portion of knowledge about the chosen game: its behavior, places of occurrence, etc.

The game consists of a series of missions, characterized by varying degrees of difficulty and various restrictions (e.g. on equipment). We can hunt in locations such as Alaska, Arizona, British Columbia, Colorado and Texas. Players can also use 30 pieces of equipment, including rifles, pistols, bows and binoculars.

Game modes

Hunting Unlimited is designed exclusively for single player mode, but in addition to taking part in specific missions, we can also practice our skills on a special shooting range.

Technical aspects

Hunting Unlimited features fullly three-dimensional graphics and full freedom of movement (including the ability to run, jump or squat). The whole thing is powered by SCS Software's original in-house engine, called TERRENG, created mainly for hunting games.
