Hotline Miami Video Game Series
A series of retro-style action games, the main feature of which is a high level of difficulty. The series was created by independent studio Dennaton Games, and its publisher is Devolver Digital.
First Hotline Miami debuted on personal computers in October 2012. The production was both an artistic success (as evidenced by the "overwhelmingly positive" reviews on Steam and the average rating given to it by industry media, which according to Metacritic is 85/100) and a commercial success (and this despite the large scale of piracy). Over the following years, the title also made its way to PlayStation consoles and Android mobile devices.
Forging iron while hot, the developers responsible quickly got to work on the sequel. The game Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number debuted three years after the release of the original, in March 2015. The industry media gave it a cooler reception than its predecessor; according to Metacritic, the average rating given to it by industry media ranged between 66-75/100 (depending on the platform). Nevertheless, on Steam the game enjoyed "very positive" reviews.
After the release of the second part of the series, there was an uneasy silence on the subject of the brand, which was broken only in 2019. At that time, the company Devolver Digital released the Hotline Miami Collection, a compilation of both games, which first hit the Nintendo Switch console and later appeared on the Xbox One.
In the productions under the banner of Hotline Miami we watch the action from a top-down perspective. During the gameplay we take on the role of characters who eliminate hosts of opponents, making use of firearms and white weapons. As the games in question do not forgive any mistakes, and our character dies in them from a single hit (although the same applies to his opponents), in order to be victorious, we must not only show dexterity and reflexes, but also learn by heart the layout of the rooms in each location and the location of enemies. The latter in the second installment of the series is complicated by the fact that the levels in it are much more elaborate than they were in the original. Some help is provided by masks donned by the character, which provide him with various bonuses.
Another (than the high difficulty level) characteristic of the series Hotline Miami, is the audiovisual layer of the productions that make it up. Their graphics are maintained in a pixel art style full of bright colors, while the gameplay takes place to the accompaniment of a fast-paced, sometimes even aggressive soundtrack cheering you on to fight.

Developed by independent studio Dennaton Games, a brutal retro-style action game resembling the classic first installment in the Grand Theft Auto series. The action takes place during the 80s in the titular Miami. The main hero is a muscular ruffian who after receiving mysterious calls recorded on an answering machine commits a series of violent acts. Missions come down to murdering everyone in a given location. The protagonist can execute stealth attacks as well as engage in open combat. There are 35 types of firearms (pistols, shotguns, rifles) and weapons for close combat (knives, crowbars, baseball bats). The game also introduces special animal masks, which give the hero unique abilities. Even though the game features old-school graphics, it is filled with huge amounts of brutality, making it suitable only for adult players.
