Home Run King is a product representing a rather rare type of sport on consoles. It is a game dealing with the subject matter of baseball, which enjoys considerable interest in the United States only. It can be assumed, therefore, that the title refers to the All-Star Baseball series. However, it should be clearly stated here that this product is distinguished by a much higher level of gameplay realism. Home Run King will be of interest only to eateries of the genre, because for beginner players it may seem too complicated. Wow Entertainment studio is responsible for the development of this game, which also prepared the third part of the hit saga House of the Dead, or such games as Sega GT 2002 and Vampire Night. Home Run King was created exclusively for Gamecube console owners.

One of the greatest advantages of the described production is undoubtedly the audiovisual setting. Special praise should be given to exceptionally complex models taking part in competitions for players. Of course, a sufficiently detailed animation of their behaviour was also taken care of. This applies to all players in the stadium. On the other hand, the environment was slightly worse, with particular emphasis on the audience. Generally, however, Home Run King presents a much higher level of production than the competitive production released for the Nintendo console. The soundtrack was also very good, which consists, among other things, of professionally prepared commentary.

This product has four basic play modes to offer. And they are: Home Run Derby, Exhibition (this mode also includes the Quick Start option without going into unnecessary details), Season and Playoffs. In addition, it is possible to customize many factors. The player can modify individual players, or even entire teams. These characters do not need to be looked after anymore, although they may, for example, be injured. Generally, however, Home Run King does not contain any options typical for popular managers. Control of individual competitors takes place in a very similar way to competitive products. However, the player must master all the basic elements in order to be able to count on winning. Home Run King has a rather limited, classically realized multiplayer for two people.
