Home Behind 2 is an RPG with roguelike elements, in which we control a squad of revolutionaries trying to defeat the tyrant of a fictional country. The game was developed by TPP Studio, an independent company from China.

Home Behind 2 is an RPG with roguelike elements, similar in gameplay to such games as Darkest Dungeon or Warsaw. The game was developed and published by Chinese indie developers from TPP Studio (also responsible for the first part of the series and A Perfect Day).

Plot

Home Behind 2 is set in the country of Scaria, which has been in a state of brutal civil war for ten years. The player leads a group of revolutionaries operating in the territory of an authoritarian state ruled by the tyrant Akadullah. The heroine is Banan - a student who returns from abroad to take part in the coup.

It is worth noting that the game is a prequel to the first part of the series - its action takes place ten years earlier.

Mechanics

Home Behind 2 is a Darkest Dungeon-style roguelike in which the action is mostly observed from the side ( side-scroller). The gameplay is about exploring randomly generated locations, completing tasks (e.g. taking over territories or cities) and fighting enemies. A number of randomised missions, activities and buildings can be found on the map.

Battles take place in real time - we can pause the action at any time to give orders. It is worth noting that the player has a lot of freedom in forming his team and approaching various challenges. The game features dozens of character classes, and each of them offers different abilities, skills, statistics and tactics.

As you progress through the game, you gradually acquire new equipment (including rifles, rocket launchers and flamethrowers) and develop your soldiers. We also improve the base, thanks to which we gain access to new abilities (this allows us to cook food, invent new technologies or create equipment).

Game modes

In Home Behind 2 we can only play alone. The core of the game is a feature campaign.

Technical aspects

Home Behind 2 features 2D graphics that brings to mind the well-known Darkest Dungeon series. We have here hand-drawn, animated characters and backgrounds, enriched by various lighting effects. The game uses a cartoon-like artistic style, but it is rather ordinary, and the colour scheme can be called subdued.
