Hollywood Monsters is a classic adventure game with a point-and-click interface, produced by Spanish Pendulo Studios, previously known from Igor: Objective Uikokahonia. The title was released on PCs only in Spanish and Italian language versions. However, an unofficial patch is available on the web, changing the language of the game to English.
The action of the game takes place at the ball called Monster's Ball organized by the film producer Otto Hanover, where the most popular film monsters meet every year. Two rival journalists from California's The Quill Magazine find themselves at a party at Hanover's dark estate. Sue Bergman comes first and intends to prove that she is the best reporter of the newspaper. It soon turns out that the journalist disappears in unexplained circumstances and her eternal rival Ron Ashman is sent to explain the circumstances of the mysterious events.
The game is governed by classic rules of the genre and uses a modified version of the popular SCUMM interface. Like LucasArts' iconic productions, the fun comes down to shaking through the locations and searching for items relevant to the plot, as well as conducting numerous conversations with the independent characters you meet. The whole was enriched with colorful, cartoon graphics and a large dose of ghastly sense of humour. The game world is filled with "twisted" versions of popular movie monsters - during the game we meet, among others, the werewolf gigolo and the mummy, which is beaten and terrorized by her husband.
