The game offers several different modes of fun. The Campaign Mode allows you to play the entire war by participating in the most important battles that took place at that time. Choosing a single scenario you should choose one of the 24 maps designed for singleleplayer or 12 multiplayer (for two people). Unquestionable advantage of the game are references to real battles and events of the First World War. After each completed mission, a special screen appears, which brings them a little closer. Subsequent battles are played with two-month breaks. So the game describes exactly what happened on the front at that time. The authors of the Historyline 1914-18 contained a huge amount of units in their game. The player has a choice of infantry, artillery and even planes or ships. Their use depends on the type of map being played. It is the player's sole responsibility to discover which troops should be sent to battle. Interestingly, if a unit appeared only during the war, it is the same in the game. The activities are carried out on a hexagonal board. Units are represented in a symbolic way, with the exception of animations appearing at the most important moments (e.g. conquering an enemy post).
