A hack'n'slash RPG with roguelike elements and local coop mode. In High Spirits we play as hungover Flanagan fighting hordes of enemies and trying to restore the balance to the town of Brinley. We carry a stick and depending on the mixtures we drink it transforms into different types of weapons.
High Spirits is a hack'n'slash game with elements of roguelike, in which we play as a hungover hero trying to deal with the consequences of the previous night. The game was developed by the independent Petri Dish Studios.
In High Spirits we watch the action in an isometric view.
We primarily focus on eliminating opponents in the game. The protagonist holds a magical staff that can transform into various weapons. We can rely on classic melee weapons (used for close combat), ranged weapons to keep enemies at a distance, as well as unleash powerful magical area attacks.
We most often face hordes of ordinary enemies here, but from time to time we also have to confront bosses. The fights are dynamic, so it's relatively easy to die. If we fall on the battlefield, we will wake up in a musty basement, after which we will have no choice but to start a fresh playthrough.
The transformations of the staff are driven by potions drunk by the hero, so their brewing is one of the main elements of the gameplay. We need to pay attention to the pace at which we consume the contents of subsequent vials and their quantity, because otherwise we may face various consequences of intoxication with magical potions.
While exploring Brinley, we get to know its residents. Among them, we will find both potential clients and Flanagan's friends, who can become our allies and accompany us on our journey.
The icing on the cake are the quests that are retrospectives, in which we embody Maeve leading excavations and uncovering the secrets of the ruins located under the city. In her skin, we have the opportunity to learn about Brinley's past and unravel the mysteries of this place.
High Spirits takes us to a fantasy world, specifically - to the city of Brinley, which we explore as a hero named Flanagan. The last party didn't end too well for him, as not only did he wake up with a terrible hangover, but he also couldn't remember anything. To top it all off, he is now accompanied by a talking staff burning with rage. As if that wasn't enough, apparently the area was overrun by ghosts. The protagonist therefore has no other choice but to try to restore balance in the city before things completely get out of control.
High Spirits allows for solo play or cooperative gameplay on a shared screen.
The graphic design of High Spirits was maintained in a cartoon style.
