Hey! Pikmin for 3DS 2D platform game with logic puzzle elements (unlike the previous installments of the series, which were real time strategy games). The game was developed by Arzest, known from Yoshi's New Island.

Plot

The protagonist of Hey! Pikmin is Captain Olimar. His ship crashes on an unknown planet inhabited by the eponymous creatures. Olimar's task is to explore the newfound world and find a way to escape.

Mechanics

Hey! Pikmin for 3DS utilizes a side-view perspective. Like in other games of the genre, the gameplay focuses on moving to the right, jumping on platforms, avoiding traps, and fighting enemies. While these activities, you can use the help of the Pikmin, which have unique abilities. For example, the Blue Pikmin can swim, while the Winged Pikmin can help you travel short distances in the air. You control the friendly critters by using the touchscreen; you can also throw them at your opponents.

Technical aspects

Hey! Pikmin is not a demanding game when it comes down to system requirements, but the colorful, cartoonish visuals look quite good. The controls system is simple and intuitive — it utilizes both the buttons and the touchscreen.
