Hellboy: Web of Wyrd

Hellboy: Web of Wyrd is a roguelite action adventure game. It's based on a series of comic books published by Dark Horse Comics. The game was developed by Upstream Arcade.

Plot

Hellboy: Web of Wyrd doesn't adapt a story known from the comic books. The developers, together with Dark Horse Comics and the series' creator, Mike Mignol, have created an entirely new storyline. The game centers around a place known as The Butterfly House. Said mansion was built in order to act as a gateway to another dimension, known as Wyrd.

The main protagonist is Hellboy, half-human, half-demon, and an agent of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense. His objective is to investigate The Butterfly House and find out what happened to another agent who went missing there.

Mechanics

The gameplay in Hellboy: Web of Wyrd revolves around exploring successive locations and fighting hordes of enemies. A lot of work went into the combat system - the further we get, the more challenging the opponents become, requiring more complex strategies to overcome.

Technical aspects

The visuals of Hellboy: Web of Wyrd have been clearly influenced by comic books.
