Heavy Gear (1997) Description
Heavy Gear from 1997 is the first simulator supported by a universe license operating under the same name. Guided by armored, walking mosses, the player wanders through the devastated wilderness of the Terra Nova planet, taking part in a conflict between the two factions: AST and ECEF.
Watching the world from a first person perspective, the player uses a range of weapons available on board gears, such as machine guns, rocket launchers and grenade launchers, in order to liquidate the opponent's machines on the map. These can be similar vehicles or any other military equipment, from tanks to fast jeeps. Maps are largely open, which in combination with their size gives us complete freedom in planning attacks on enemy installations. The title "armed" is also a multiplayer mode.
Although Heavy Gear did not age very gracefully over time in terms of audiovisual setting, it was one of the best productions in the genre on the day of its premiere. This fact can still attract the attention of connoisseurs of powerful, two-legged combat machines.
