Plot
The action of Heavenstrike Rivals takes us to a fantasy continent suspended among the clouds by gigantic chains. This world has always been looked after by a powerful being known as the Guardian. Seven divine sisters wake up from sleep every 600 years to elect another Guardian and thus provide peace and prosperity for mortals in the next six centuries. This cycle was interrupted by the arrival of beings calling themselves Defeated, who forced the army of mankind to abandon half of their territories. Players take on the role of warriors living on lands occupied by nightmarish invaders. If they want to chase the beasts away and save the world, they must find and protect the Seven Sisters.
Mechanics
Heavenstrike Rivals consists mainly of battles on small boards consisting of 21 fields. During the battles, we command a small unit of heroes. However, during our adventures, we create an army that can consist of more than 200 units. We use them all in combat at once, as they play the role of a character pool, allowing us to create teams specially selected for specific enemies. The fun is enriched by RPG elements, which allow the heroes to gain experience points, which we then spend on improving their combat skills. The fights are played in turns. The special powers of the warriors play a key role.
Game modes
Heavenstrike Rivals on PC, AND and iOS offer a single-player story campaign. You can also compete with others in PvP mode. It is worth mentioning that the character designs were developed by Ryoma Ito, known from Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, and the music is the responsibility of Ryo Yamazaki, the author of the soundtrack to Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers.
