The twenty-second expansion for the card game Hearthstone from Blizzard. After visiting the Barrens, United in Stormwind takes us to the titular city of the Alliance, and introduces 135 new cards to the game.
Hearthstone: United in Stormwind is the twenty-second expansion for the free-to-play card game Hearthstone. It is also the second expansion within the Year of the Gryphon, prepared by Blizzard.
Plot
Just as the previous expansion focused on the Horde Adventurers forging in the barrens, United in Stormwind takes us to the titular city, where Alliance mercenaries are trying to find some respite. However, they will not be able to enjoy the pleasures of Stormwind in peace. Danger lurks behind the walls and the heroes must equip themselves with weapons, mounts and other equipment to face the next challenge.
Mechanics
United in Stormwind is a typical big expansion for Hearthstone. The add-on introduces 135 new cards, representing heroes of the Alliance, but also traders of Stormwind and their goods. There are special weapons called Profession Tools, instead of the hero's attack bonuses providing him with special effects. Players can also play cards that strengthen the stats of their minions (which summon mounts to the battlefield after their death) and Questlines. The latter are a variation on the mechanics introduced in Journey to Un'Goro. Each class has been given a unique item, which offer valuable rewards for completing certain actions. However, instead of a single quest, the quest series consists of three stages, and each offers a different bonus. The quests culminate in the Legendary mercenary , a unique and powerful minion.
The twenty-second expansion also features a new keyword: Tradeable. True to its name, cards with it can be exchanged for another copy from a player's deck for the modest fee of one mana crystal.
