Hay Day

Hay Day, released on iOS and AND, is a colorful economic game in which we deal with the expansion and development of our uncle's farm. The title was developed by the Finnish studio Supercell and was quite successful, placing it at the forefront of the most profitable applications of 2013.

Mechanics

The game title is a paraphrase of the colloquial term "pay-day". In this case, it means the day of harvest and it is the different types of crops that are our main source of income in this game, allowing for the continuous expansion of the farm. Thanks to the funds obtained in this way, we can place new farm buildings and expand the area of cultivation with new plant types. As you progress through the game and gain new levels of experience, you unlock new types of buildings and crops. We can also invest in the breeding of two- and four-legged pets, bee breeding, fishing or opening an old mine or decorate our farm with a wide range of ornaments.

Raw materials obtained from our business can be sold individually or combined into various sophisticated combinations (e.g. bacon cake) and sold in our roadside shop. Over time, we begin to receive more and more lucrative orders, which will require appropriate transport (road, water or rail). Progress in the game is achieved through completion of assigned tasks, and the secrets of the game are gradually introduced by a scarecrow counselor who acts as an advisor.

Technical aspects

Hay Day is characterized by colorful, hand-drawn graphics. The game uses the popular freemium model, where success can be achieved with hard and systematic work. However, players who want to achieve success quickly can make use of microtransactions, allowing for the earlier purchase of unique decorations, buildings, and crops, or acceleration of work through the premium currency. The game also has extensive social features, so a number of useful bonuses can be achieved by inviting your friends to play together and visiting their settlements regularly.
