Haunted Chocolatier

Haunted Chocolatier combines elements of action RPG, simulation and economic strategy. It was developed by Eric Barone (as Concerned Ape studio), the creator of the smash hit Stardew Valley.

Plot

In Haunted Chocolatier our character moves to a new town to open a chocolate store. He lives in a gloomy castle haunted by numerous ghosts.

Despite such a theme, the game provides a cheerful and warm atmosphere. It shows the charms of everyday life and its aim is to cheer players up.

Mechanics

Haunted Chocolatier is a hybrid game. The gameplay is based on RPG mechanics. Starting the adventure, the player creates a character and then develops its statistics while completing missions. The second pillar of the gameplay are the simulation and economic aspects. During the game we deal with running the business and improving the store.

Making chocolate plays a key role and the game offers a large selection of different recipes. Haunted Chocolatier also focuses heavily on combat. Using a portal in the castle, the player travels to magical lands for rare ingredients. In terms of gameplay, these expeditions resemble action RPGs and focus on clashes with monsters using cold and ranged weapons.

Interactions with other characters also play an important role. Our place is located in a lively town, with whose inhabitants we have to develop relationships. In turn, after returning to the castle we spend a lot of time in the company of various ghosts.

Game modes

The game offers a single player mode only.

Technical aspects

It features a simple, but pleasing to the eye, 2D graphics realized in a style based on full of large pixels Japanese RPGs from 32-bit consoles.
